Are you Queensland's champion tongmaster?
I'll be the judge of that!
Show your BEEF-lex by being crowned the Queensland Beef BBQ .
Want to test you culinary skills and creativity? Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) is calling for entries in their Beef steak BBQ competition with the opportunity to win the Queensland State title and be the state representative in an Australian team heading to Lexington USA to compete in the BBQ Capital Cook-off held in April 2012.
The Queensland Beef Tongmaster competition will be hotly contested, with BBQ beef aficionados encouraged to log on www.themainmeal.com.au/BeefTongmaster and submit their details along with a secret Beef Steak BBQ recipe that will form their competition entry.
The judges (including me) will be looking for a contestant with a passion for beef steak and entries will be judged on presentation, flavour, tenderness, innovation and overall impression.
There will be five (5) contestants selected to compete in Queen Street Mall, Brisbane on Friday 11th November from 12.00noon to 2.00pm to cook their stunning yet simple steak recipe within a 15 minute timeframe.
Each contestant will be competing to produce the very best beef meal. The judges will be looking for the most delicious beef meals that demonstrate creativity and innovation in both style and presentation. Of course all five (5) contestants will use the same Rib Fillet ingredient as supplied by MLA to ensure consistency. Contestants will be judged on a national criteria basis to produce the dish that best reflects the cooking style of Queensland.
The prestigious competition is strictly regulated with each piece of meat from the same Rib Fillet, measured to precisely the same size and cooked on the same BBQ plate before being tasted by the judges.
The panel food-loving judges also includes Chef Dominique Rizzo and Brisbane Times Food Editor Georgia Waters. We will taste-test our way through the 5 steaks and award the Queensland Champion with a ticket to Lexington USA valued at up to $6,900 to attend the Lexington USA Beef Capital Cook Off being held on 27 – 28 April 2012.
