Lunch with a Queen view!

Not invited to any of the official functions to welcome the Queen to Brisbane?

Me either - my copy of Kathy Lette's corgi dress is going to go to waste and I so wanted to show off their little crowns.

But you can still catch a glimpse of the old girl at Bretts Wharf Restaurant as the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh depart for a river cruise from Bretts Wharf on Monday 24 October.

Alastair McLeod is very excited about the event (I can't imagine how fast he is talking) and to mark the occasion, the restaurant is offering a special 'royal lunch' on the day in addition to the regular a la carte menu.

"There's nothing quite so British as fish and chips, so as a seafood restaurant and with the fantastic local fish we have on our doorstep, that was an easy one for us. As a nod to Prince Philips' heritage, there’s a Greek side salad to accompany, and for dessert it's one of my all time favourites, the 19th Century English dessert, Eton Mess " said executive chef, Alastair McLeod.

You won't have to pay a king's ransom for the lunch - the 2 course special is excellent value at $40 per person - especially considering the price includes the classic British tipples of a gin and tonic or a long cool Pimms.

As Kingsford-Smith Drive will be closed between 11.00am and midday on Monday, the restaurant is opening early for lunch for those wanting a birds eye view of the spectacle. Reservations will be essential with car registration details required to secure a parking space.

The Royal party will leave the wharf at approximately 11.20am, and normal traffic will resume by midday.
