There are plenty of good basic recipes like Paula's Mini Meatloaves, Tomato 'Sugo' Sauce, Macaroni and Vegetable Cheese Bake and Peter's Chicken Sandwiches.  It's the sort of food children like and it's easily achievable.

I'd be happy to eat just about anything my daughter cooked me from this book - she could start with Lemon Delicious....

The spiral binding is also a great idea as it sits flat on the bench without a problem.
