Queensland Food Guide announced

It's exciting to know that we will now have hats.

We've had hats for years, you say, they are the things that keep sun off our heads! No silly, I mean 'Chef Hats' like they have in Sydney and Melbourne.

Seems we are all grown up enough to rate our own food guide and
Fairfax Media has announced that it is extending its highly
successful Good Food Guides to Queensland, with the launch early next year of the brisbanetimes.com.au Queensland Good Food
Guide, presented by Vittoria Coffee and Citibank.

Edited by well-known and respected local food writer Natascha Mirosch, the Queensland Good Food Guide will showcase the best places to eat in Brisbane, as well the best regional eateries from Far North QLD all the way south to Northern NSW.

The Good Food Guide has been the foodie bible in NSW and Victoria for 40 years. The coveted
Good Food Guide Chef Hats are not only unique in Australia; they are now recognised as one of the
world’s most authoritative symbols to denote outstanding restaurants.

Hats will be awarded in the new Guide to the very best restaurants in Brisbane and throughout Queensland, and awards will also be given in categories including Restaurant of the Year, Chef of the Year, Regional Restaurant of the Year and Sommelier of the Year.

Like its NSW and Victorian counterparts, the new Guide will also include sections on cafés, cheap eats and ‘five of the best’ highlights.

Each restaurant is visited at least once by members of the experienced review team, who not only critique restaurants anonymously but also pay for their meals in full to ensure complete impartiality. In the case of hatted restaurants and award winners, restaurants are usually reviewed several times by different reviewers.

For the first time the Guide will be available as a book and iPhone app, and its own website.
